Looks great, no issues with shipping damage, February 21, 2012

I was really worried about this unit arriving in good condition upon reading all of the reviews about poor packaging. Mine arrived in the standard box, with thicker hard cardboard corners strapped on four sides. The corners are strong enough to take a pretty good beating and the box was in great condition. Once opened, I cannot think of a better way to package the materials inside. Everything was in perfect condition. The laminate is a lot darker than every photo I've seen of this unit. Which is fine by me, it looks better in my opinion. Assembly is quite simple and took about 30 minutes by myself. While I had no trouble with it, I'd imagine that the only difficult part of assembly for someone would be putting the solid wood top on. It is the heaviest piece and I can see someone having trouble in lifting it and aligning it to the 13 bolts. Once together, the unit is solid and looks great in my new "man cave".
On a side note, I have a fairly large Pioneer AV receiver and it fits nicely in the bottom center cabinet space. I will not attach the cardboard backing in this area as I need the room for the several wires out of the back of the receiver. But, because the receiver is so large, it will not be noticeable.
